Kathmandu: The identities of the deceased individuals involved in the Gorkha road accident that occurred early this morning have been confirmed.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Leelaraj Lamichhane has provided the names of the deceased as Nabina Thapa (17), Prabin Thapa (19), Niraj Thapa (19), Bir Bahadur Thapa (24) from Sahid Lakhan Rural Municipality-5, and Than Bahadur Thapa (64) from ward no. 4 of the same rural municipality.

Additionally, twelve others sustained injuries in the accident. Among the injured, three have been transferred to hospitals in Bharatpur from Anbukhairani in Tanahun for further treatment.

The ill-fated jeep with license plate 01-023 Cha 4427 was carrying participants of a wedding ceremony from Chilingkot village to Taklung village in the rural municipality. It is worth noting that the newly-wedded couple had traveled in a separate vehicle.

The accident took place at approximately 3:00 AM when the jeep veered off the road and plummeted around 200 meters.
